SERVICES
Therapy that works in and outside the consult room
Every child we work with at Marenwood is seen within the context of their family. That means individual sessions with your child, and regular sessions with you, because lasting change happens in the relationships around a child, not just in the therapy room.
IS THIS THE RIGHT PLACE?
We work with children and teenagers experiencing a wide range of difficulties.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy for children and teenagers
Individual sessions give your child a space that is genuinely theirs, somewhere they can think, feel, and begin to make sense of what's going on for them, at their own pace.
For younger children, we use play-based therapy. Children communicate through play, through the stories they tell, the characters they create, the things they choose to explore in the room. Sessions are warm, fun, and child-led, while guided by what Rebecca understands to be happening for your child.
For older children and teenagers, sessions are talking-based - though still tailored to what each young person needs. Some teenagers want to dive straight in. Others need time to feel comfortable. We work at their pace.
Location: Croydon, VIC or Telehealth
Fee: $270 for a standard 50-minute consultation. Medicare rebates available with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP
PARENT SESSIONS
Caregiver sessions
Parent sessions are one of the most important parts of the work we do at Marenwood. These are sessions just for you - a space to think about what's happening for your child, explore how you're responding, and find new ways of connecting and supporting them.
Parent sessions might involve:
– Making sense of your child's behaviour - understanding the why behind what you're seeing
– Exploring how your own history and experiences might be influencing how you respond
– Finding ways to set firm but kind limits while maintaining connection
- Rebuilding or strengthening the relationship with your child
–Processing the difficult feelings that come with parenting a struggling child
Parent sessions can be offered alongside your child's individual therapy, or as a standalone service. Sometimes the most effective intervention is to work with parents directly - particularly when a child is very young.

HOW WE START
What to expect
When you first come to Marenwood, we spend the first 2–3 sessions getting a thorough understanding of your family. This involves:
Session 1
You and your child together (or parents only for younger children)
Session 2
Parents only — to explore your perspective, history, and concerns in more depth
Session 3
Your child individually
After these sessions, we meet with you again to share what we've heard, how we understand what's happening, and what we recommend for therapy. You'll always have a clear picture of the plan before we start.
