ABOUT

Hi, I'm Rebecca

Clinical psychologist, founder of Marenwood, and mum of two.

I started Marenwood because I wanted to work in a way I believe in.

I've spent over 12 years working with children, adolescents, and families - in schools, in public mental health, and in private practice. And throughout all of it, one thing has stayed constant: the families that see the most meaningful change are the ones where the parents are genuinely part of the process.

Not as observers. Not receiving a debrief at the end of the session. As active participants in understanding and supporting their child.

That's the practice I wanted to build. A space where parents feel just as welcome in the room as their child does. Where we think about the whole family, not just the presenting problem. Where the goal isn't to hand families a set of strategies to implement, but to help them genuinely understand what's happening and why.

Marenwood is that practice.
I’m really glad you found us.

I also happen to be raising two boys.

Being a parent has given me a perspective that sits alongside my clinical training: the experience of loving your child deeply while sometimes wondering whether you're getting it right. Of knowing that parenting can bring enormous joy, and also worry, uncertainty and moments you'd rather handle differently.

You don't have to get everything right to be a good parent. You're here, you're thinking about your child, and you're trying. That matters.

HOW | WORK

I believe that what actually helps children isn't the technique, it's the relationship. The felt experience of being genuinely understood by another person is what creates change. That's true for children, and it's true for parents.

In practice, this means I spend time really understanding what's happening for your child, not just what the symptoms are, but why things are difficult. I look at how a child's early development, experiences, and relationships have shaped them. I think about the family system they live within. And I work closely with parents to help them understand and respond to their child in new ways.

I draw on a range of evidence-based frameworks in my work — including attachment theory, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, and ACT. But these are tools, not scripts. Every child and every family is different, and I adapt my approach accordingly.

Chloe provides administration support at Marenwood Child and Adolescent Psychology and is often one of the first points of contact for families reaching out to the practice.

With a warm and friendly approach, Chloe assists families with enquiries, appointments and the day-to-day administration of the practice, helping to make the process of accessing support as simple and welcoming as possible.

Chloe has a background in administration, customer service and business management, and enjoys working behind the scenes to keep things organised and running smoothly. As a mum of two, she also understands how valuable clear and compassionate communication can be for busy families.

Who we work with

Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, behavioural difficulties, or you're just not sure what's going on, Marenwood is a space to figure it out together.

Children (0–12)

Therapy that meets kids where they are, in language they understand. Sessions are warm, unhurried, and built around what your child is communicating even when they can't find the words.

Teens  (13–18)

Talking-based therapy for adolescents navigating anxiety, low mood, identity, relationships, and the pressures of growing up. A space that is genuinely theirs.

Parents

Sessions with parents to build understanding, strengthen connection, and find new ways to support your child. You don't have to figure this out alone.

What to expect when you reach out

We start by
listening

The first sessions are about understanding your family, not just the presenting problem. We meet with you and your child together, then separately, so we can build a full picture of what's happening and why.

We make sense of it
together

After gathering information, we share what we understand to be happening and our recommendations for therapy. You'll always know what we're doing and why, no jargon, no mystery.

We give you what you need to support them at home

Therapy includes individual sessions with your child and regular sessions with you. Because lasting change happens in the relationships around a child, not just in the therapy room.
