Assessments we offer
ADHD Assessment
A comprehensive assessment for children and teenagers where ADHD may be a factor in the difficulties they're experiencing. This includes a clinical interview, standardised rating scales with parents and teachers, cognitive testing, and a detailed report with recommendations for home, school, and if appropriate, medication.
Cognitive Assessment
An assessment of your child's cognitive abilities — including reasoning, memory, processing speed, and verbal and non-verbal skills. Helpful when there are questions about intellectual ability, giftedness, or to better understand a child's learning profile.
Autism Assessment
A thorough assessment for children and teenagers where autism may be present. This includes structured clinical observation, developmental history, standardised assessment tools, and a comprehensive report. Rebecca has extensive experience working with autistic young people across a range of ages and presentations.
Educational / Learning Assessment
An assessment of academic skills and learning processes to identify learning disorders such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or other specific learning difficulties. Reports include practical recommendations for school accommodations and support.
WHAT TO EXPECT
How does an assessment work?
An assessment at Marenwood typically involves several appointments across a few weeks.
This includes:
– An initial consultation with parents to discuss concerns and gather developmental history
– One or more sessions directly with your child, which may include standardised testing, structured observation, and clinical interview
– Feedback session with parents to discuss findings and recommendations
– A written report detailing the assessment findings, diagnosis (where applicable), and recommendations for support
We write our reports in plain language. You will leave with a clear understanding of what the assessment found, and what it means practically for your child at home and at school.
